After battling ovarian cancer for three years, Heather MacAllister died surrounded by loved ones in Portland, Oregon, on Feb. 13, 2007. Her spirit lives on in all the people she has met and inspired over the years.

More than anything, Heather wanted to leave a lasting legacy that people, and especially disenfranchised people, take good care of ourselves and each other, and vigilantly demand decent healthcare in a system that would rather see us die.
